Federated Access (FED)
All Emue based devices, such as credit cards, Cell phones, PDAs and virtual software devices have the ability to exploit Emue’s Federated Access (FED) feature.
Unlike other federated access mechanisms which enable the sharing of a single device for the purposes of multiple remote authentication and identity management, Emue does not rely on the same set of credentials to facilitate third party authentication.
The sharing of primary credentials in a federated model is a recipe for disaster and a recognized inhibiting factor to the adoption of such a model, given that successful fraud committed against one enterprise will migrate to all other organizations within the federated family, including the device issuer.
With FED, the credentials used for third party federated access are completely independent of those used by the device issuer and thus serve to protect the primary device issuer against attacks launched as a result of potential unknown third party exploits.
The capabilities associated with Emue’s PIN Generated One-Time-PassCode (PASS), Emue’s Reciprocal Authentication (ECHO) and digital transaction signing (SIGN) are available as independent or embedded FED modes.
The model also facilitates an additional return on investment for the device issuer through a percentage of fees payable by third parties to leverage the issued devices.
FED represents the capabilities associated with the Presidio product range.
